After Nick Diaz lost his chance to fight GSP he declared that he was retired from MMA. Turns out that Cesar Gracie had comments today that show otherwise. Here is what he had to say today about Nick and his future:
– As far as future opponents, Nick has stated that he would like to take fights “that matter”. Since GSP will be fighting Condit, he has to look elsewhere. He will respectfully ask for a fight with Anderson Silva, a fighter he respects and would like to challenge.
Silva’s camp has been speaking of a fight with GSP, possibly even at a catch weight. Nick will take that fight in a minute but has told me that should Silva decide not to drop at all, he will move up to 185lbs to face the Champ.
Personally, i’d love to see this fight happen. The only other fight in Anderson’s weight class that i’d be interested in seeing would be our own Michael Bisping and not just because he’s one of our fighters. I think that fight would be fun to watch and would create a ton of energy leading up to it. Some of the other fights in that division just don’t make sense right now after the Sonnen fight. Ed Soares (Anderson Silva’s manager) seems to agree with seeing Diaz vs Silva. Here is what he had to say via twitter:
Ed Soares @edblackhouse
I think the idea of @SpiderAnderson vs @nickdiaz209 is pretty good. Let’s see what the @ufc thinks?
We’ll see if this fizzles out or gains momentum but interesting….
