Chael Sonnen versus Brazil??

Chael Sonnen versus Brazil??

Leave it to Chael Sonnen to plug himself into yet another high profile, headline caliber fight as he handed Mauricio “Shogun” Rua his first submission loss in six years stopping him(via guillotine choke) at 4:47 of the very first round in the night’s main event at UFC Fight Night 26. With the TD Garden in Boston still fresh off the heels of Travis Browne’s emotional “Boston Strong” post fight speech following his come from behind knockout victory of Alistar Overeem, the man “Too sweet to sour” wasted no time to feed off the electricity of the crowd and did exactly what he does best… call people out;

“Wanderlei Silva, 6-foot tall and 205-pounds. Boy, until I met you, I didn’t know they could stack crap that high. I just got done with a world champion. If you don’t think I’ll add a middle-aged comedian just for the goddamn pleasure of it, you better think again. Wanderlei Silva, in three months, you and the bad guy.”

Sometimes in this sport that is mixed martial arts it is best to be mindful of what you ask for as Chael soon found out after his most recent WWE’esque promo that not everyone is a fan of his Superstar Billy Graham impersonations, mainly a long list of pissed off Brazilians.

Enter Vitor Belfort another seasoned veteran of the octagon that also never hesitates to seize the opportunity keep his name buzz worthy, quickly reminded Sonnen that both men still have some unfinished business.

Not one to be left out in the cold, Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida also threw his name in the hat of Rua’s fellow countrymen that wants a piece of one Chael P. Sonnen.

But alas since the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts dosen’t sanction 3 man free for all much like the world of professional wrestling and  as stated by  Machida’s tweet a fight between he and Belfort is currently in the works for UFC 167. Not a probem, let’s go full circle and give Sonnen what he ask for in the first place by setting up a fight with Wanderlei or don’t forget about one time opponent Antônio Rogério Nogueira(Little Nog) who should be back in 3 months good as new. Never the less as to when or whom he fights at the rate Chael is going a moniker much like that of Kazushi Sakuraba whom back in the days of Pride FC was a thorn to the sides of the Gracies holding 4 victories over four members of the famed jiu-jitsu clan inside the ring earning himself the nickname “Gracie Hunter” would be more fitting.
